You’re probably so used to that “iodine aftertaste” in shrimp; you don’t even notice it’s there. You probably think you’re supposed to “smell” shrimp on your hands after you eat it.
Truth is, that “iodine aftertaste” is actually bromine (a chemical used in heavy duty cleansers) that the shrimp must eat when they’re in the ocean or in a regular shrimp farm.
Exacting standards keep our shrimp free from disease, chemicals and pollutants that are prevalent in every other type of shrimp harvesting.
Our filtration system keeps the shrimp clean, with water moving constantly.
We even monitor the air quality outside the walls of our plant. If so much as a crop duster flies by, we enact more safeguards to keep our shrimp away from all chemicals. What’s more, our dedication to freshness – we never freeze our shrimp! We don’t add chemicals! – means that when we say it’s fresh, we mean fresh. While other shrimp farmers or fishers add sodium bisulfate to prolong “freshness,” we refuse. We’ll keep our shrimp in our regulated salt waters until you’re ready for it.
